What is an Assembly?

GSF assemblies are consensus decision-making processes that bring multiple parties together through structured sessions to discover, surface, and deliver the collective wisdom of the group. Rather than traditional top-down decision-making or adversarial negotiations, assemblies create structured environments where diverse stakeholders can collaborate intensively to find common ground and shared solutions on complex sustainability challenges, at a dynamic pace.

The process recognizes that the best decisions emerge when you get the right people in the room, give them proper facilitation, and create space for genuine dialogue and consensus-building. Assemblies serve as concentrated moments where collective intelligence can emerge and be captured into actionable outcomes that have broad buy-in and legitimacy.

Who can attend member Assemblies?

Registered volunteers from Green Software Member organisations, check if your organisation is a member. Read more about membership if your organisations isn’t currently a member.

How are the seats on a Assembly allocated?

Due to high demand, the majority of our Assembly seats are allocated through an application process. GSF Steering members, however, are guaranteed one seat for their organization. The remaining seats are available to general members and invited experts.

How are they run?

Assemblies are delivered virtually using emails for structured question rounds, GitHub for documentation, and Zoom/Miro for live sessions when needed. We don't currently offer in-person Assemblies.

What is the capacity of an Assembly?

A minimum of 8 and a maximum of 20 participants.

Who runs the Assemblies?

Our Assemblies are run by experienced facilitators who are experts in consensus decision-making processes.
